Answer for the Question of the Week

If you think water will over flow when you add handful salt dust into a full glass of water, it’s wrong. Really water level goes down. Salt made of NaCl. When we added salt in to water, NaCl separated in to Na+ and Cl- ions. After this separation water molecules began to bond with those ions. Because of these inter molecular bonding volume of water decrease.

Answer for the Question of the Week

When we white wash our walls with lime(calcium hydroxide), It reacts with carbon dioxide in air and form Calcium bicarbonate first .With time with more carbon dioxide, Calcium bicarbonate converts into Calcium carbonate. That is the reason for the brightness of the wall with time. Ca(OH)2 + 2 CO2 →Ca(HCO3)2

Answer for the Question of the Week

Baking soda is Sodium bicarbonate. When we use baking soda it decomposes in to Sodium carbonate, water and Carbon dioxide. This Carbon dioxide gas causes puffing of mixture. But if we use old baking soda it is partially decomposed. Remaining Sodium bicarbonate decomposition is not sufficient to produce Carbon dioxide for puffing. That’s why the mixture doesn’t puffy when we use old baking soda.
