Answer for the Question of the Week

When we add water into quicklime or Urea there is a chemical reaction between water and other compound. The reaction between water and quicklime is an exothermic reaction. Because of that it releases heat to the environment. That’s why we feel hot. But the reaction between water and Urea is an endothermic reaction. Because of that the system absorbs heat from the environment. That’s why we feel cold.

Answer for the Question of the Week

Heat energy is conducted from one at a high temperature to a one at a low temperature. If the room temperature is less than body temperature whatever object we touch, we will feel cold because heat will be conducted from us to that object. Metals are good conductors of heat and nonmetals are bad conductors of heat. Because of that metals absorb more heat than wood from our body. That’s why metal surface feels colder than a wooden surface.
